(ABC 6 News) -- The Austin VFW honored the fallen men and women who served our country at their annual memorial ceremony on Saturday.
Organizers collected the names of veterans who have passed away from the previous year and celebrated the bravery and sacrifice they have shown fighting for our country.
The ceremony memorialized veterans from all five branches and from counties all over Southeast Minnesota.
District Commander David Thul says reading the names of the lost soldier's family members is also an important part of the memorial, "While the military members serve overseas, we always tend to think of that, the family members who had to give them up for that time of service, they made a sacrifice as well, and we choose to remember that."
Organizers say there were about 120 names read on Saturday during the ceremony and those names represented both veterans and their family members.
