Ruby's Pantry in Austin says first distribution was a success

(ABC 6 News) - Ruby's Pantry in Austin said their first pantry said their first event exceeded expectations.

The pop-up pantry opened its doors for its first distribution on Thursday and organizers say it exceeded their expectations.

Media Coordinator Bob Rosel said the line began to form at Grace Lutheran Church around 2 p.m., with distribution starting at 5 p.m. 

A total of 24 pallets of food and personal items were distributed and 126 volunteers helped with the event.

Those interested in attending the next pop-up pantry are asked to bring a $20 cash donation and two baskets or totes to carry their items.  The next distribution date is scheduled for Thursday, October 17 at Grace Lutheran Church; registration will start at 4 p.m. with distribution beginning at 5 p.m.
