(ABC 6 News) - Two juveniles taken into custody after reportedly attempting to rob a taxi driver at gunpoint.
According to the Austin Police Department, around 10:44 p.m. Friday, January 24 officers were called to the 600 block of 3rd Ave. NW for a reported armed robbery.
A taxi driver told officers that he had driven to that area to pick up a fare. That's when he said two men approached him, hit him in the face with an alleged handgun and demanded money.
Officers found a homeowner in the area with video surveillance that captured part of the incident as well as footprints that led them to a house on the 600 block of 2nd Ave. NW.
While setting up a perimeter and waiting on a search warrant police said a 15-year-old matching surveillance footage left the house. He was detained and police said they found a bb gun resembling a handgun in his possession.
A short time later police said two other juveniles exited the house. One was not related to the incident, the other, a 17-year-old, was detained by police.
Both the 15-year-old and 17-year-old were taken to the Many Rivers Juvenile Detention Center in Rochester.
