(ABC 6 News) - A husband and wife face charges after a series of events that included a police chase through downtown Austin.

Police got a report of a man with a beer dancing in the street near the east side bars just before 8 o’clock Tuesday night. As an officer was responding, he was met by a car traveling in the opposite direction at an estimated 50 miles an hour in a 30 mph zone.

The officer turned around, but the driver of the car… later identified as the man with the beer, Ashley Herry of Austin… ignored the squad car’s lights and siren and led the officer on a chase through downtown Austin.

Herry reportedly pulled into a driveway in the 700 block of 4th Street NW, where he was arrested. The driveway, as it turned out, was at Herry’s home, and when his wife, Lovelynn Herry, came out of the house, she was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant from Mower county.

Charges against Ashley Herry could include fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, DWI, speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both Ashley and Lovelynn Herry were taken to the Mower County Jail. Lovelynn appeared in court today and was released on her own recognizance.
