ALERT DAY - Afternoon/Evening Severe Threat Diminishing

September 11, 2019 09:48 AM

What is an "ALERT DAY"? It's a day the ABC 6 First Alert Weather Team is watching closely for the potential of threatening weather; whether that's summer or winter severe weather. We had our first round move through earlier this morning, with a second possible round expected this afternoon and evening. The latest model trends however, are showing a somewhat quiet afternoon/evening for us, and the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK is as well, taking our area out of the slight risk for severe weather later today. An isolated storm or two will remain possible, maybe a strong one here and there, with pockets of heavy rain and strong wind the main threats overall.
