We still have an ALERT DAY on for Tuesday. This is not because of the magnitude of the event. We are expected to fall short of an inch for most (if not all communities). The problem is because temperatures will be dropping into the single digits just hours prior to the snowfall occuring, it will make it easier for snow accumulation and more widespread ice will be expected. This will effect travel (regardless of mode of transport), and thus it prompted the ALERT DAY status. Snowfall accumulations are expected to be greater overall in southern Minnesota than northern Iowa. Time of arrival of the snow is expected to be around midday to the evening.
