It's not going to be a major snow event for us today, but an Alberta Clipper will bring 1-2" of snow for the area from 7 AM to 12 PM. It's the NW wind on the back side of the storm system that will be bringing us issues in regards to travel. Before the snow, we are dealing with very low visibility, thanks to fog, which may lead to freezing drizzle over SE MN & parts of NE IA. Visibility will be low as the snow is falling, and after, again thanks to the wind. Not only will it be tough to see on the roads, the blowing snow will lead to compaction in many areas, which results in icy spots. Allow extra time to and from your destinations all-day, allow extra space between you and the vehicle ahead of you, and keep the winter kit in your vehicle.
