AL Special Education Teacher on Leave Amid Investigation

(ABC 6 News) - An Albert Lea special education teacher is on paid leave amid an "investigation."

According to Albert Lea Police, 33-year-old Erin Bennett was arrested on September 15 for suspected cocaine possession during a traffic stop near the intersection of Euclid Ave. and West William St.

The Albert Lea School District's online staff directory lists Bennett as an early childhood special education instructor.

The district's executive director, Jim Quiram, told ABC 6 News that Bennett was placed on paid administrative leave pending the "outcome of an investigation."

According to court documents, charges were filed against Bennett on June 24 for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia; she's scheduled to appear in court on October 3 for those.

Police said a 2nd person, 30-year-old Leonte High Town, was also arrested for cocaine possession during the September 15 traffic stop.
