(ABC 6 News) - According to the Albert Lea Police Department, a body found on Monday, September 16 has been positively identified as 21-year-old Nicholas Richard Ramirez.
According to the Albert Lea Police Department, an autopsy was performed on Tuesday, September 17 which revealed no trauma to the body, indicating no foul play, and that the death has been ruled as a probable fresh water drowning.
Police said with assistance from the Albert Lea Fire Department and the Iowa Underwater Search and Rescue Team also recovered evidence in the area that helped identify the remains.
Ramirez was last seen on June 29 and was listed as a missing person.
Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered in Albert Lea Monday.
According to the Albert Lea Police Department, around 5:00 p.m. Monday officers were called to the area between the Blazing Star Landing and the Union Pacific Rail Yard in Albert Lea.
Officers confirmed a body was located and a death investigation was initiated by the police department with assistance from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.
The case remains under investigation and the identity of the person has not been released at this time.
