(ABC 6 News) - One man is dead and a woman suffered life-threatening injuries after a rollover crash in rural Freeborn County Thursday afternoon.
The Minnesota State Patrol said William Studer, 76, was driving a blue Honda CR-V west on Interstate 90 when he drove off the road and into a ditch, passing through a farm field and making a loop before vaulting over Freeborn County Highways 30 and 46. The CR-V then rolled multiple times.
The passenger, Elaine Lieb, 80, of Albert Lea, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to an area hospital before being taken by medical helicopter to Mayo Clinic Hospital Saint Marys Campus in Rochester with life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.
Studer was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials believe he suffered an unknown medical condition at the time of the crash.
