An Air Quality Warning is in place for central and southeast Minnesota for poor air quality that has materialized over the past week. A stagnant air mass has developed in that time caused by a persistent atmospheric inversion. This has helped to aid the air mass from staying trapped and prevent mixing of the atmosphere allowing pollutants to grow in concentration.
Air quality will remain poor until Thursday evening when our air mass swaps out to one much more clear that night.
