(ABC 6 News) - UPDATE: Minnesota State Patrol reports that Rachel Harberts, the 43-year-old woman who was seriously injured in the fatal crash on Highway 14 on September 7th, passed away this weekend.

The Harberts and Post families wrote an update on Rachel's CaringBridge website Saturday morning sharing the passing of Rachel Harberts. In their message, they are thanking everyone for helping them get through this difficult time. They also encouraged their supporters to think about Rachel and Emerson, "Now is the time to start remembering all the things we loved about  Rachel and Emerson and move forward trying to honor their memory.  We are all so thankful for Jaxon’s survival and continued progress toward a full recovery. hug somebody a little tighter today for Rachel and Emerson."



The Minnesota State Patrol has released a few new details in a fatal accident that happened Friday (Sept. 7) morning on Highway 14 near Claremont.

According to the accident report, two vehicles, a Mercury Milan and a Hummer, were traveling westbound on Highway 14 around 7:12.  The Mercury stopped to take a left turn onto County Road 3 when the Hummer rear-ended it.

43-year-old Rachel Harberts and 12-year-old Jaxon Harberts of Dodge Center were in the Mercury and taken to Saint Marys with life-threatening injuries. 

8-year-old Emerson Harberts of Dodge Center, also in the Mercury, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Hummer, 24-year-old Tanner Kruckeberg of Dodge Center, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

According to the MN State Patrol, no alcohol was involved.

The MN State Patrol has confirmed at least one person has died after an accident on Highway 14 near Claremont Friday morning.

A deputy told ABC 6 News that the rear-end accident happened around 7:12 a.m. and involved two vehicles.

There was a heavy law enforcement presence on Highway 14 and 130th Ave. in Claremont Friday Morning. 

An ABC 6 News reporter spoke to a witness on scene, who was driving west on Highway 14 at the time of the crash. The witness saw two helicopters, Mayo One and North Memorial, fly in and land near the scene. 

The crash happened around 7:15 Friday morning. 

Highway 14 appears to be shut down, and the accident reconstruction team has been called to the scene. 

Owatonna Highway Department and Dodge County Highway Department are on scene rerouting traffic.

No report on how many vehicles were involved and no injuries have been reported yet.
