(KSTP) -- A family said goodbye to a brother Friday, 68 years after his death.
Sgt. Eugene Yost disappeared in action in Korea on Sept. 3, 1950. Friday, his funeral was held.
The military said Yost died in combat. The military found his remains three years after his disappearance and buried him in Hawaii as unknown 727.
Through extensive research by his family, Yost was identified a few months ago.
Friday's ceremony was one the family had waited on for years and years. There were 10 children in the family. Yost's sister Elsie said her brother was her buddy.
"I was 8 years old when he came up missing," she said. "It's the only time I ever saw my father cry. I remember the soldier that come to the door and handed him a telegram. I was also my dad's buddy."
The family said they are glad they never gave up looking.
