(ABC 6 News) -- A man from Cresco, Iowa was airlifted to Mayo Clinic Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester for serious head injuries after a Ford F-150 struck his buggy and his horse on Saturday afternoon.
Howard County authorities say, Steven Jensen, who was driving the pickup truck, was traveling east on A23/45th St.when a westbound horse and buggy driven by Phillip Yoder, 23, turned left in front of Jensen at the intersection of Timber Avenue. The Howard County Sheriff's Office also reports that Jensen was not able to stop in time and struck the horse. Yoder was then thrown off from the buggy and onto the road. The buggy came to rest on the north shoulder. The horse crawled down the ditch where it died. Jensen's vehicle went in the south ditch.
Authorities say Jensen and his passenger, Michael McIntyre, were not injured.
