(ABC 6 News) - According to Mower County authorities, two people are in the hospital with serious injuries after an accident in Racine Wednesday night.

According to law enforcement, the accident happened around 5 p.m. on Mower County 2 and 793 Avenue.


A 48-year-old woman told investigators she was trying to use an inhaler and looked up just before her pickup truck ran into the back of a car.

The passenger in that car, an 84-year-old man, was extricated and airlifted to Saint Marys; the driver, a 77-year-old woman, was taken to Saint Marys by an ambulance.

Authorities said the truck driver was not injured and noted there was no indication she was attempting to use the inhaler due to a medical emergency.

No citations have been issued at this time.

ABC 6 News is following a developing situation in Mower County.

Around 5 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, law enforcement responded to a crash near County Road 2 and 793rd Ave. near Racine.

Law enforcement said two vehicles crashed and two people were transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus, one by helicopter.

A witness told ABC 6 News that he saw a car spinning after it looked like a pickup truck rear-ended it.

Law enforcement said the crash remains under investigation.
