1 Injured in Helicopter Crash in Howard County

(ABC 6 News) -- A man from Texas was injured on Friday night after the helicopter he was flying crashed in Howard County.

The Howard County Sheriff's Office released information on Saturday about a helicopter that crashed after it hit an electrical wire.

Authorities say that a pilot from Texarkana, Texas was flying a crop duster helicopter on Friday evening when it hit an electrical wire and crashed at the intersection of 125th Street and Maple Leaf Road. The pilot, Scott Anthony Townes, 43, was able to get out of the helicopter on his own.  Deputies say Townes suffered injuries and was brought to Regional Health Services in Cresco, Iowa by ambulance. 

The Howard County Sheriff's Office, Howard County Ambulance, Riceville Ambulance, Riceville Fire Department, and the Elma Fire Department all responded to the scene of the crash.
