(ABC 6 News) – High School football teams from around the state battled for a spot in the Prep Bowl Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The undefeated Rushford-Peterson Trojans took on the also undefeated Minneota Vikings in the Class A Semifinal game.

Minneota started off the game strong with two touchdowns in the first quarter. Rushford-Peterson not getting any points on the board until the 4th quarter.

But for the seniors, it was about being able to play together one last time with the teammates they’ve grown up playing with.

"I’m going to look back on this the rest of my life and I’m not going to regret anything because it’s just something I’m going to remember and I wouldn’t rather do it with anyone else. This is one of my favorite coaches of all time, and Carson, best friend, my brothers. I’m going to miss them but it’s been one hell of a season," senior quarterback Malachi Bunke, said.

This was the first loss of the season for the Trojans, but Rushford-Peterson head coach Davin Thompson said they got beat by a better football team.

"You know, I don’t think we played bad, I don’t think we have anything to hang our head-on. We got beat probably by a better football team today. Proud of my kids and their fight again. That’s a good Minneota team," Thompson said.

Plainview-Elgin-Millville is advancing to the Class AAA championship game.

The P-E-M Bulldogs took on the Annandale Cardinals Saturday afternoon. It was a scoreless first quarter for both teams.

The Cardinals outsized the Bulldogs with their players and the size of the team. But, Annandale’s head coach Matt Walter gave credit to P-E-M’s speed on the field.

"We were outsized out there, they had bigger guys than us, they had more guys than us, they played more guys than us. But our guys just had a lot of heart and a lot of effort and really just flew around the field tonight and made some awesome plays," P-E-M coach Kevin Lamb said.

Senior Peyton Schumacher finishing Saturday with a career-high with three intereptions. Schumacher says it still hasn’t sunken in yet that they are going to the state championship game.

"Yeah, it’s special. Like you said, it’s every person’s dream to get to a state championship in any sport, honestly," the wide receiver/defensive back said.
