Tip leads to discovery of at least 100,000 child porn images, videos on Freeborn Co. man’s electronics

(ABC 6 News) – Following a tip made in January this year, investigators located at least 100,000 images and videos on a Freeborn County man’s electronics.

According to court records, on January 19 a detective was contacted by an officer with the Minneapolis Police Department regarding a cyber tip related to an individual in Alden, Minn.

On June 23, detectives and deputies conducted a search at a home in Alden where 38-year-old James Rambo was living in the basement.

During the search deputies located and seized several laptops, desktops, phones, flashcards and hard drives.

Court records state on August 9, a detective spoke with a Digital Forensic Examiner with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and was told they had started going through the electronics taken from the home.

The examiner stated that on just one hard drive there were more than 100,000 child pornographic files. Court records state 29,000 of the files included known victims identified by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

A couple of days later on August 11, court records show the detective and examiner noted 29 different videos containing child pornography involving children that appear to be 3-years-old or younger.

Rambo appeared in court last week and has been charged with 11 counts of Possession of Pornographic Work of Minor under 13. He is expected to be back in court toward the end of October.
