ABC 6 / SurveyUSA Race Relations Poll: By nearly 5:1, Minnesotans say race relations are worse than they were 4 years ago

(ABC 6 News) - In a poll conducted this month, Minnesotans say they disapprove of President Trump's handling of race relations in America and many feel pessimistic about the future. 

The ABC 6 News poll conducted by SurveyUSA asked 750 adults across Minnesota on their thoughts on race relations in America. The interviews were conducted from September 4 to September 7.

Running with the slogan "Law-and-Order President," Minnesotan's disapprove of the President's handling of race relations in America, including 46% who strongly disapprove of his handling.

57% of Minnesotans say that race relations are worse than they were when President Trump took office, including 23% who say race relations are much worse. Just 9% say race relations are better than four years ago, including 3% who say race relations are much better.

The despair Minnesotans feel about race colors their entire viewpoint about the future. Just 32% statewide are positive about America's future, compared to 47% who feel negatively about the future.

About: SurveyUSA interviewed 750 adults statewide September 4 through September 7, 2020. This research was conducted online among a representative cross section of Minnesotans age 18+. Respondents were weighted to US Census targets for gender, age, race, education, and home ownership.
