Several hurt in head-on crash in Dodge County Monday

(ABC 6 News) – The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said several people were hurt in a head-on crash Monday in Canisteo Township.

The sheriff’s office said a pickup driven by 80-year-old Ardean Bjorson of rural Hayfield was headed south on 250th Ave near 685th Street just before 5:30 p.m. when it collided on the shoulder with a sedan driven by 18-year-old Tyler Maas-Schlie of Owatonna.

Bjornson appeared to have minor injuries and his passenger, Kevin Bjornson, had serious injuries but they did not appear life-threatening. Both were brought to Saint Marys in Rochester.

The sheriff’s office said Maas-Schlie suffered what appears to be life-threatening injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was flown to Saint Marys for care.

Dodge County was assisted by Kasson Police Department, Kasson Fire Department, Hayfield Ambulance Service, Dodge Center Ambulance Service, North Memorial Air Care, and Minnesota State Patrol.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with the crash reconstruction and the cause of the crash is under
investigation.
