Oronoco man arrested after driving almost 100 mph on Highway 52

(ABC 6 News) - On Tuesday morning shortly after midnight an Olmsted County deputy clocked a driver going nearly 100 miles per hour on Highway 52.

The driver, 26-year-old Blaine Akerson of Oronoco, was driving at 96 mph heading north toward Oronoco when he passed the deputy. The deputy pulled Akerson over shortly after.

Officials said Akerson provided the deputy with a false name but eventually gave his real name. The deputy noted Akerson was under the influence and was taken into custody. Akerson also did not have a license or proof of insurance to provide the deputy.

Akerson appeared in court Tuesday morning and has been charged with DWI - refusal to submit to chemical/breath test, DWI - operating a motor vehicle under influence of alcohol, giving a fake name and driving after revocation.
