(ABC 6 News) - The family of Waseca officer Arik Matson shared an update on the six-month mark of him being shot while responding to a call.
On a post on CaringBridge, the family says since he was shot he's had two surgeries and is possibly looking at another in the coming months. Officer Matson is currently receiving care at his fourth facility, this time in Omaha, Nebraska.
His family says the recovery has been a struggle but he is able to walk on his own for short distances, his memory is back and he is able to write letters to his daughters each week.
"Arik wants nothing more than to be home with his family and friends. But understands this is going to be a long road to recovery and is grateful for all the letters, care packages, phone calls, text messages and encouragement he has been receiving throughout this all."
