(ABC 6 News) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced a new program aimed at advancing economic development in the state.

Gov. Walz was joined Wednesday by Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Steve Grove as well as local business leaders to launch the "Build What Matters" campaign.

The governor’s office says the campaign is a first of its kind initiative to partner with businesses from across the state to highlight why people should start a business or advance a career in Minnesota.

"As the world starts to look at what does work look like post-COVID? We want to say it looks just like it looks in Minnesota," said Gov. Walz.

"An incredible place to start your business. One that Com. Grove will tell you is…if you start a business in Minnesota as compared to the other 49 states, your chance of survival is greater here than any place else and we’re just getting started. Build what matters is our campaign of working together.”

DEED has also created a website called joinusmn.com where people looking to launch a start up in the state can apply for grants or loans. People can also learn about other incentives for businesses looking to relocate or expand in Minnesota.
