(ABC 6 News) – An investigation report from the Minnesota State Fire Marshal shows the cause of a fire in Brownsdale can not be determined.

The report said the fire started somewhere on the south side of Rohler Rink earlier this month. The lead investigator Steve Wolf said he was able to eliminate all natural causes for the fire but could not rule out accidental causes or arson. Wolf was not able to identify an area of origin or any potential ignition sources.

Wolf further notes, at this time, the owners are not believed to have been involved in starting the fire. There is also no signs of forced entry or theft to the building or anything inside.

"There are many factors that made the investigation of this fire scene difficult. The fire damage was so severe that most of the structure was consumed. The use of the excavator was limited to the rink area of the building and was brought in to aid in extinguishment and to stop fire travel from exposures at the North end. The use of the excavator also contributed to some of the loss of the structure and some disruption of wiring and contents."
