(ABC 6 NEWS) -The holiday season is here and many already have outdoor lights on display.
A Minnesota man has been creating a guide to holiday lights since 2017.
There are more than 100 displays of Christmas and holiday lights in the 2020 Minnesota Holiday Lights Display Guide created by Mike Marcotte who runs givemethemike.com.
Marcotte wanted to create a lights guide to help people find the displays easily and he says this year everyone could use an extra cup of holiday cheer.
"2020 has been so tough, it has been hard on us no matter what your position is. You know you've had to adapt, people have lost loved ones, people have lost jobs, we just need to end this year on a positive note," Mike Marcotte said.
Some displays in Southeastern Minnesota include one in Kasson with 32,000 lights, a Plainview display with 25,000 lights, and one in Albert Lea with 38,000.
The guide has a map too.
Marcotte said, "You can see which lights are nearest you and that map can be tailored. So if you are interested in only displays that have more than 700,000 lights you can tailor the map so that you can only look at those displays."
If you have a display of your own in Minnesota, Marcotte is looking to add more daily, but there are some requirements.
Your display must have at least 2,000 lights.
The form to submit your lights can be found here.
