12 people hurt in multi-vehicle crash involving semi in Rice County Sunday

(ABC 6 News) – A dozen people were hurt in a crash involving seven vehicles including a semi Sunday night in Rice County.

Crash reports from the Minnesota State Patrol said six vehicles were stopped on south I-35 near milepost 73 just before 8 p.m. for construction when a semi hit the vehicles from behind.

The semi driver and a driver of one of the vehicles were not hurt in the crash. 12 other people in the vehicles were all taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The ages of those hurt range from 2 to 51-years-old.

The Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Northfield Fire, New Market Fire, Schoot County Sheriff’s Office and New Market Police all responded to the crash.
