Two men arrested after pursuit, standoff in Mason City

(ABC 6 News) – Two men are facing charges after a pursuit with police and standoff in Mason City.

Cody Dean Dakin is charged with eluding a pursuing law enforcement officer, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, felon in possession of a firearm and interference with official acts

Michael David Dalluge is charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, felon in possession of a firearm and interference with official acts.

On Friday, at approximately 12:23 p.m., an Iowa State Patrol trooper attempted to stop a vehicle west of downtown Mason City.

Mason City police said the driver refused to stop and a pursuit ensued until the vehicle struck a tree in the 300 block of 1st Street NW. The two then fled the scene and a perimeter was set up around the area.

One of the men was taken into custody shortly after fleeing the crash scene. The other fled into a nearby home. It was believed that both men may be armed.

After hours of the suspect refusing to surrender, officers forced entry to the home and used pepper spray to identify the man’s location.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., the man surrendered and was taken into custody by troopers. He was treated at the scene and taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

The Mason City Police Department, the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force Special Operations Group, and the Mason City Fire Department all assisted at the scene
