Several hurt in head-on crash Monday night in Mason City

(ABC 6 News) – Several people were hurt in a head-on crash in Mason City Monday night.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 10:15 p.m. near Orchid Ave and 330th St.

A 29-year-old driver from Northwood was driving north on Orchid Ave when he crossed the center line and hit another car head one. The second car was driven by a 58-year-old man from Mason City. There was also a 38-year-old passenger also from Mason City.

The sheriff’s office said both drivers were trapped and had to be extricated and both received serious injuries and were taken to the hospital. The passenger was not seriously hurt and went to the hospital.

The sheriff’s office did not specify what happened prior to the crash. The crash is under investigation.
