(ABC 6 News) - There is a new TV show coming to streaming services and if you are in Clear Lake or Mason City, they are making it right in your neighborhood.
The pilot episode of 'Strong Tower' is being filmed this week at various northern Iowa locations.
The production company, Renovo Media Group, is located in Clear Lake, but they're flying crew and cast from all across the country to film.
The idea of the series came to mind last July and has been in the works ever since, with filming taking place this week in Cerro Gordo county.
With a recognizable cast, including Claire Coffee, Michael Gross and Miriam Flynn.
"When we conceived the idea of the series, we very much conceived it with the local look in mind to celebrate the beauty of this rural narrative and also to the people of this town and this part of Iowa. So it all kind of came together with the writing and we're able to celebrate just the hospitality of the town," Doug Tooke, producer and vice president of Renovo Media Group said.
There are lots of recognizable places to northern Iowans being used as sets, as well as locals in some shots as extras.
"The show is about a brewery and we have a great relationship with Lake Time Brewery, the local brewery, which is wonderful and they've helped us out a ton," Tooke said.
They are using real places as sets like the Clausen House and Main Street in Clear Lake. They will also be converting a drugstore into a courthouse and jail. Some scenes were also shot at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Mason City as well as in Ventura.
Tooke says as a local company, they are excited to be working with local people.
"The goal for us is to create just great, virtue-based television that's easy for families to watch, rated G to TV-14, film and television," Tooke said.
