(ABC 6 News) - Democrats in the Iowa Senate want a new law addressing they say is the growing maternal health crisis in Iowa.
Mortality rates of new moms in Iowa have more than doubled in three years and the state ranks last in the number of OB/GYN's per capita.
The Healthy Moms and Babies Act (SF 2062) would adjust Medicaid reimbursement rates, expand home visiting services for pregnant women and new moms, and ensure practices that could save lives during delivery.
