(ABC 6 News) - Iowa Senator Amy Sinclair and Representative Mary Wolfe introduced separate bills that would stop the practice of suspending driver's licenses for unpaid child support.
The Republican Senator and Democrat representative say the current law is counter-productive. The practice of suspending driver's licenses inhibits the ability to work or find work.
They say it needs to be amended to allow people to search for work, to keep jobs that are needed to pay the child support, and stop turning payees into criminals, for matters that have nothing to do with driving or public safety.
