(ABC 6 News) - A Floyd County, IA man is in jail and facing several charges from an incident Tuesday night.

Rodney Ray McCarty, 61, of Floyd, IA has been charged with assault, 1st degree-sexual abuse, 1st-degree burglary, false imprisonment, OWI-1st offense, open container, failure to maintain control, and leaving the scene of an accident.

According to Floyd County court documents, on Tuesday night approximately 8pm, a 9-1-1 call was made to Floyd County dispatch about a male subject who broke into her friends home and raped her.

Deputies arrived on scene and found the victim had been physically and sexually assaulted while being held against her will for approximately 2 hours.

The victim got away when her friend arrived to her house. The friend stated that McCarty had hit her when she entered the house after hearing her friend screaming. The friend threw a candle at McCarty and was able to get out of the house.

The two were able to provide a description of the male subject and the license plate of the vehicle.

The male subject left his drivers license along with his clothes at the scene of the assault.

The license came back as Rodney McCarty. He was taken into custody after he was found in his vehicle, unconscious behind the wheel and naked. There was also an open container in the passenger seat.

McCarty was unable to stand or speak clearly due to his intoxication. He was transported to Mitchell County Regional Health Center where he was evaluated. Implied consent was invoked and blood was requested.

It was found that McCarty had also struck a horse and buggy in the 1400 block of Quail Avenue and fled the scene.

McCarty is in the Floyd County jail on $527,000 cash bond.

He is due in court August 5.
