Salvation Army in Rochester to offer COVID-19 vaccines

(ABC 6 News) – The Salvation Army in Rochester is providing COVID-19 booster shots and vaccines Tuesday.

Staff says their clients have been telling them they don’t have transportation or access to get the vaccines.

Olmsted County Public health is partnering with the Salvation Army to ensure easy access to vaccines for the most vulnerable members of our community.

Both boosters and vaccines will be available at their downtown social services center in northeast Rochester from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

"Many of the things that we had available to us you know like getting the vaccine and getting the booster still required something that many people don’t have. It’s the assumption that we have the ability to get somewhere and so I think that it is the community stepping up and saying you know what you want a booster we’ll come to you," Major Lisa Mueller said.

It is recommended that people register to receive their shot first, but walk-ins will be accepted.
