(ABC 6 News) -Students and staff at Longfellow Elementary are once again required to wear masks due to an increase in the number of COVID cases.

The school had ‘met or exceeded’ 5% of the students and staff with confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported for the week of April 25 – May 1.

As of May 3, all students, staff, and visitors will be required to wear masks inside the building for two weeks. Data will be reviewed at the end of two weeks to determine if masks may be removed at that time.

Masking requirements are currently made on a building-by-building recommendation and required once the 5% threshold is met.

As of Thursday, Longfellow was the only school in the district that has to return to masking at this point. Longfellow Elementary is Rochester’s 45-15 school, meaning it operates on an different calendar than other schools in the district.
