(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Two school districts in our region will enter into a superintendent sharing agreement for the 2019-2020 school year.

Northwood-Kensett and St. Ansgar school districts will have Michael Crozier, current superintendent for Northwood-Kensett, leading both districts starting July 1, 2019.

Officials announced this development on Friday. They said the decision is based on the goal of creating additional savings and revenue. While both districts agreed to share a leader, board presidents emphasized “it is not a move towards consolidation or whole grade sharing.” Board members stated this move is based on efforts on saving money for their districts. They also want to emphasize that this move is not a “step toward reorganization or consolidation.”

The two districts have been in sharing agreements for their transportation director, maintenance director and human resource director for the past three years. The agreement will be in place on a year-to-year basis and continually evaluated during the school year.
