(ABC 6 News) - If you didn't enjoy history when you were in school, maybe you weren't doing it right.

Students at Ellis Middle School ended their study of the Civil War Tuesday by re-enacting the conflict ... with water balloons. They also learned military skills, like marching in formation and responding to their commanding officers.
They also fought their battle with tactics that have long-since become obsolete

"You know back in the Civil War days for the most part soldiers were still lining up in straight lines and you had this brand new weaponry that was created, and so the casualty rate was extreme, you know 600,000 plus Americans over those four years of fighting," said Brandon Soller.

The Civil War reenactment involves between 400 to 500 kids and more than a thousand balloons. It was the tenth year of the project.
