(ABC 6 NEWS) - It's a unique site for any mall, a museum that caters to the development and well being of children, and now it is focusing even more on their wellness.
"To find a way to utilize our space to help with some of the social and emotional development needs we are seeing with children and families within our community," Operations and Visitor Services Manager, Jeraka Tweite said.
SPARK reopened its doors in the new Apache Mall location in late July, and it started working with Rochester Public Schools to see what students might be needing during this not so normal time.
"How we can help these families and these kids and what we can offer above and beyond what we typically do," Tweite said.
The Wellness Wednesdays program offers something for everyone including a teddy bear clinic by Winona State Graduate Student, Emily Doskey, "To make going to the doctor and having regular check-ups feel safe."
To Yoga for Kids, Allegro Dance, and more, SPARK is also offering a quiet space for students who may not have access to wifi.
"They can bring their iPads or their laptops or whatever devices in to try to get some school work done if that is a need they are seeing in their family," Tweite said
. To do something fun and relaxing with their family is giving SPARK a chance to help kids. Tweite says "It gets them moving and it is something they can do together and it's fun."
Wellness Wednesdays are included with museum admission. To find more information on what events SPARK will have visit the SPARK Facebook page.
