(ABC 6 News) – During a conference call Thursday, Republican Senator Joni Ernst talked about the three phases of the $2.2 trillion relief package.
“This Coronavirus pandemic is something we must address head on. Here in the Senate we have been working at a rapid pace across the aisle to get immediate relief for workers and families our small businesses and all those in our healthcare community who are on the front lines,” Ernst said.
She also said she wanted immediate relief for Iowans and talked about the three phase deal.
Phase One: Would provide additional resources for federal, state, and local partners and health officials.
Phase Two: Would provide relief for families, workers and seniors across our nation.
It would also provide free COVID-19 diagnostic testing, increases access to vital nutrition and food for children and seniors and emergency paid sick leave for workers.
Phase Three: Would provide aid to the American work force and those in the healthcare industry.
Sen. Earnst said, “Iowans from every corner of our state moms and dads, nurses and doctors small business employers and employees cashiers and clerks, seniors and students, veterans and farmers will get support from this phase three deal,” Ernst said. “The senate has stepped up in this time of crisis and deliver critical additional relief for Iowans and all Americans now the House must do their job pass this bipartisan bill quickly and get it to president Trumps Desk we don’t have time to for delay Iowans need this aid right now.”
She added that the deal includes relief for nearly every sector and that there will be direct relief for individuals that are earning less than 75,000 dollars a year will receive a 1,200 dollar direct payment and if you’re a family you would receive 2,400 and for each child additional money on top of that.
Ernst also discussed providing relief for small businesses through small business loans and the 7(a) loans, which can be done through direct lenders.
“Were doing the direct assistance but then there are other provisions for various sectors like our agricultural community our health care health care workers additional moneys,” Ernst said.
This is the largest relief package passed in the history of the United States.
