(ABC 6 News) - Cerro Gordo County held their first COVID-19 related news conference Wednesday afternoon with leaders from CG Public Health, MercyOne North Iowa and the City of Mason City.
The group answered questions about local response efforts and current health care capacity.
MercyOne said on their main campus they currently have 228 open beds, 45 of those are specifically designated for COVID-19 patients.
The hospital also said they currently have 38 ventilators and an adequate supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) to last a couple weeks, but are in need of N95 masks and gloves.
Mason City Mayor Bill Schickel added that right now staying home might be hard, but the alternative if we don't follow will be even harder.
