MDH reports 9,040 new COVID-19 cases and 45 additional deaths

(ABC 6 News) - Saturday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 9,040 new positive COVID-19 cases and 45 additional deaths.

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, this new report is from COVID-19 tests from Thursday and Friday.

Total overall lab tests completed: 4,121,906

  • Total approximate number of completed PCR tests (cumulative): 4,027,255
  • Total approximate number of completed antigen tests (cumulative): 94,651


9,040 newly reported confirmed positive cases 

  • Newly reported confirmed cases: 8,574
  • Newly reported probable cases: 466

Total confirmed cases of COVID-19: 304,023

  • Total confirmed cases (PCR positive) (cumulative): 297,928
  • Total probable cases (Antigen positive) (cumulative): 6,095

Total number of health care workers: 22,292


7.4% of total tests to date have been reported as positive 


Total patients who no longer need to be isolated:257,485


  • Total number of patients hospitalized: 16,423
  • Total number of patients that have been admitted to the ICU: 3,715

The MDH has changed the way it reports hospitalization and ICU numbers and are no longer reporting the number of people currently hospitalized and in the ICU.

45 deaths reported today 
Residence type of newly reported deaths:  

  • Private residence: 22
  • Long-term care facility/Assisted living: 23

Total number of deaths: 3,521

  • Deaths from confirmed cases (cumulative): 3,453
  • Deaths from probable cases (cumulative): 68

Total non-laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 deaths: 59
*COVID-19 listed on death certificate but a positive test not documented for the person.
