(ABC 6 News) -- An elderly Mower County resident has died because of COVID-19 on Saturday according to the Minnesota Department of Health. On Sunday, MDH reported 17 more people have died of the new coronavirus. This includes the elderly resident from Mower County. The 17 deaths bring up the total number of people who have died of COVID-19 in the state to 2,234. 1,574 of those who died were residents in long-term care or assisted living facilities.
On Sunday, Minnesota health officials say 1,732 more people tested positive for COVID-19 which brings up the total positive cases to 122,812. Officials say 12,432 of those are health care workers.

Health officials also reported that 1,681,318 individuals in Minnesota have been tested for COVID-19. To date, the total approximate completed tests are 2,509,734.
