(ABC 6 News) - In countries across the world, the hunt for a vaccine for COVID-19 continues.
The head of Infection Control at Mayo Clinic says there are 7 vaccines that are in Phase 3 trials across the world, meaning six to eight years of research on a vaccine has been done in the last 8 months.
With every country being affectied by the virus, the resources given to research are speeding up the process.
"I don't think that any step is being skipped. It's just that everything is moving really fast because a: science has advanced in the last few years, enabling us to do this work. And also, because funding has not been a problem," says Dr. Priya Sampathkumar, Head of Infection Control, Mayo Clinic.
