(ABC 6 News) - Mayo Clinic has launched a COVID-19 Vaccine Registry that will identify people interested in participating in upcoming COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials.

People who add their name to the registry may be contacted in the future to determine if they are eligible to participate in a COVID-19 vaccine trial at Mayo Clinic.

The goal is to make sure the trial has diverse involvement and make sure all ages are represented.

Mayo is also working with the state and federal government to roll out vaccines approved for emergency use authorization, which would provide different doses and vaccines to each state and healthcare region.

"There are over 200 clinical vaccine trials going on all over the world and it is the intent of Mayo to particiapte in these studies. When these studies are made avaliable, we'll identiy potential people to be involved in these studies through the vaccine registry," says Dr. Andrew Badley, Director of COVID-19 Research Taskforce.

The registry is expected to be active for several years with more that 30,000 people enrolling.

People can enroll in the COVID-19 Vaccine Registry by completing this vaccine registry form or calling the COVID-19 vaccine registry at 507-293-3383.
