Mayo Clinic Health Systems forum discusses COVID-19 Vaccine

(ABC 6 News) - Monday afternoon, Mayo Clinic Health systems hosted a virtual COVID community forum discussing a variety of topics. 

The forum, which was open to the public featured several Mayo Clinic experts that discussed patient care, pandemic-related topics, including vaccination for COVID-19.

Clinic officials want you to remember that not everyone is going to be able to get the vaccine right away.

"While the vaccines are new, the disease is new, the proccess by which we will be approving a recommending these to use in you have is the same that we have been using before hand with the other vaccines," says Dr. Robert Jacbson, Mayo Clinic Pediatrician.

"The intent is to vaccinate everyone, there will be enough vaccine for everyone in the United States who wants it before the year is out, however, we will not enough vaccine nor enough infrastucture to give it to everyone on day one," said Dr. Melanie Swift, Occupational Medicine Physician and Internist at Mayo Clinic.

Mayo Clinic is following all state and federal reccomendations for how they will allocate the vaccine.
