(ABC 6 News) - Amid the pandemic, Mayo Clinic is using technology to monitor patients from afar.

Patients with cancer, diabetes, COVID-19 and other health issues have been able to seek care without having to leave home. Mayo Clinic's Center for Connected Care Remote Patient Monitoring Team is using technology to continue to monitor their patients.

"A blood pressure cuff that also allows us to get heart rate information. Temperature, pulse oximeter, glucometers and spirometers as needed.  To do more of a subjective assessment and then determine whether or not care needs to be escalated to their Mayo managing provider," Mayo Clinic oncologist and Medical Director of Remote Patient Monitoring Dr. Tufia Haddad said.

Technology has allowed healthcare providers to keep tabs on their patients' well-being, and still allow the patient to social distance.
