(ABC 6 News) -- A realty development group has bought IBM's 490 acres, 3.1 million square foot campus.  Industrial Realty Group announced on Friday that the sale was finalized, months after IBM filed to subdivide its campus.

According to a press release, the IBM will sign a long-term lease for eight of the 34 buildings on the campus. IRG plans to turn the site into a mixed-use business park to attract new companies and jobs to Rochester.

Utilizing our nationwide network, we have already engaged many potential tenants who are interested in locating their operations on this high-tech campus,” said John A. Mase, Chief Executive Officer of IRG. “IRG plans to create an environment that encompasses a variety of uses and creates as many jobs as possible.”

IBM has been at the Rochester site since 1957.
