WATCH: Family that built Austin home reacts to overnight fire, officials say fire is suspicious

(ABC 6 News) - UPDATE: The Mower County Sheriff's Office says crews were called to the home shortly before 11:30 p.m. Thursday. 

Officials say the house was engulfed in flames upon arrival. The sheriff's office says no one was inside the home at the time and the home had been abandoned.

The fire is suspicious in nature, though the cause of the fire has not been identified as of 7:00 a.m.

The family who built the home in 1995 is at the house Friday morning after the fire. ABC 6 News Good Morning reporter Samantha Boring spoke with the family.



Officials were called for a report of a house fire near Austin late Thursday night.

The home is near 12th Ave NW and 31st Street. An ABC 6 News photographer says the road is blocked off. 

A neighbor tells ABC 6 News the home is the half million dollar home that has been abandoned and vandalized. Police have not been able to confirm.
