(ABC 6 News) - There is a new farmers market in Austin, and it kicked off Friday afternoon.
The Cedar River Farmers Market is located just south of the Historic Terp Ballroom.
Roughly 15 vendors are selling their products to the Austin community and it's all happening due to the organization Impact Austin.
This space is now a permanent area for vendors to set up, but Impact Austin has big plans for this space.
A fundraiser is ongoing to help build structures for the farmer's market, think of it like permanent tents. So far they have raised 30 thousand dollars for the project.
One Austin vendor says she's grateful that there's space available for her to sell her products after the pandemic brought a rough year.
"It helps out a lot because it does cost money to feed chickens and so now people will say yes and no people can buy eggs or our pumpkins in the fall. It's great I'm happy that Austin has something like this now," says Stephanie Garbisch.
The event runs Fridays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. beginning June 18 through October 15.
