(ABC 6 News) - After the Minnesota Department of Health approved the start of hockey activity, the Austin City Council reversed their initial ruling and gave the green light to install ice in Riverside Arena this summer.

On Monday the City Council voted 5-2 in favor of installing the ice in the arena, which will allow multiple used for local hockey players and organizations.

This is a huge relief for the Austin Bruins, who plan on hosting three camps this July. The camps are an opportunity to evaluate talent but also help players from all over the country improve their games. But if you ask Bruins Co-Owner Mike Cooper, it's not just about the hockey.

"One of the main reasons we have these camps here in town is because of the revenue it generates in the community. Especially in a small town, anytime you have the opportunity to bring outside dollars into your community and help support the local businesses that really support us and really make it so we can even have a team," Cooper said.

Cooper says they've already started the process of installing the ice.
