One man has died in a fiery, fatal crash in Mower County on Friday according to the Mower County Sheriff's Office.

The deadly crash took place at the 33000 block of 60th Ave. NE on Sargeant, MN around 3:30 p.m.

Sheriff Steve Sandvik said in a press release that a single-vehicle crash was reported after the driver hit a bridge. Officials said the male driver appeared to be trapped in the car alone and unconscious.

Dispatch was also told that the car was on fire and that it was spreading quickly.

According to Sheriff Sandvik, when deputies arrived they saw an SUV in flames with the driver still inside who appeared to be dead at that time.

Several agencies were at the scene including the Hayfield Fire Department, Southeast Minnesota Medical Examiner, and the State Fire Marshal.

The driver was the only occupant of the burning vehicle and authorities say he was not identifiable. His body was taken to the medical examiner for an autopsy. The crash is still under investigation.
